ISO 9001:2015

Our Quality Management System is a fundamental pillar to guarantee the service to our clients and efficiency in our operations. We were the first company certified ISO 9002 in the Colon Free Zone back in the year 2000.

ISO/IEC 27001:2022

Is an international standard that specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an information security management system (ISMS). It ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, ensuring that security risks are managed appropriately within our organization.

ISO 14001:2015

Guarantee the standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. It helps us to improve our environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste, gaining a competitive advantage and the trust of stakeholders.

ISO 45001:2018

Operations Safety is a key objective of our organization. Our dedicated Occupational Health and Safety Department works continuously with our operations staff to improve employee safety, reducing workplace risks and creating better, safer working conditions.

BASC

We have global standards, state of the art equipment, and security procedures applied to our logistics chain trade certified by BASC (“Business Alliance for Secure Commerce”)

GMP

Our quality management system and our processes comply with good manufacturing practices and good distribution practices certified by the Ministry of Health of Panama and all our pharmaceutical customers.

IATA

J. Cain & Co., was the first freight forwarding agency certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Colon, and remains as leaders in the industry.

Here's a list of important events in J. Cain & co. History, and how our company has grown over time

1951 - J. Cain & Co. is founded

Founded by James W. Cain, the first specialized 3PL company in the Colon Free Zone.

1987 - Facilities expansion

Expansion of warehouse facilities in the Colon Free Zone, duplicating our footprint to 15,000 mts2.

1994 - Luis Carlos Motta becomes CEO

Luis Carlos Motta becomes CEO and restructures the company into business units by industry segments.

1995 - Logistics Services Panamá is founded

The subsidiary Logistics Services Panama is founded as a Freight Forwarder and agent of Fedex and Danzas.

1995 - Logistics Services Uruguay is founded

The subsidiary Logistics Services Uruguay is founded.

2000 - J.Cain is certified ISO 2001

J. Cain is certified ISO 9001, reconfirming a cultural change towards more structured procedures per each process carried out and standardizing these throughout the entire company.

2003 - Logistics Services Colombia is founded

The subsidiary Servicios Logísticos Colombia is founded, with facilities in Cartagena and Bogota.

2003 - DHL Global Forwarding and J. Cain & Co.

DHL and J. Cain become strategic partners. J. Cain becomes as exclusive agent for DHL Panama for warehousing and distribution in Free Trade Zones.

2006 - BASC Certification

J.Cain is certified Business Alliance for Secure Commerce. An IATA sponsored certification guaranteeing the proper care and controls of cargo movements

2008 - J. Cain started operations at MIT Logistics Park

J. Cain started operations at MIT Logistics Park. The first logistics area created outside the traditional Free Trade Zone, under the same benefits

2010 - Operational Excellence

J. Cain executive team creates the operational excellence business unit, covering Quality, Business Technology and a new Continuous Improvement department.

2010 - Implementation of Red Prairie & Creation of OPEX Unit

J. Cain launched its Operational Excellence Business Unit, covering QA, Business Tech and a new Continuous Improve-ment Department. Implementation of Red Praire, considered the best Warehouse Management System for 3PLs

2015 - J. Cain started operations in Panama Pacifico

J. Cain started operations in Panamá Pacífico Special Economic Area becoming the first logistics provider to successfully offer operations in both the Atlantic and Pacific sectors in Panama

2016 - Authorized Economic Operator

J. Cain becomes the first certified company in the Free Trade Zone, reassuring the controls and transparency required to expedite shipments through customs.

2020 - Great Place To Work

J. Cain was qualified within the Top ranking in Great Place to work (GPTW) obtaining the 2020 Certification as one of the “Best places to work” in Central America and the Caribbean.

2021 - J. Cain merges with Colon Import & Export

J. Cain & Co. se fusiona con Colón Import & Export y se consolida como líder en servicios logísticos para empresas multinacionales en Panamá con una infraestructura de 145,000 m2 de bodega.
